On March 17th, Spuyten Duyvil (pronounced "SPITE-en DIE-vul") return to The Minstrel Acoustic Music Series with their infectious, original spin on traditional music and alternative folk rock. In 2016, their CD, "The Social Music Hour Vol. 1", received an International Folk Music Awards' "Album Of The Year" Nomination. They kick off their 2017 season with a fresh round of re-imagined traditional songs and their new single "The Warmth Of Other Suns". Borrowing novelist Richard Wright's phrase and paying homage to Isabel Wilkerson's (http://isabelwilkerson.com/) thought provoking, timely and moving book of the same name, this inspiring song of resistance is available to all as a free download.

Opening the show is Moss Henry & the Bryophytes, an old time country quartet playing music of the American Southwest from a time before "Country 'n Western" became a category unto itself with all the associated glitter and glam. The songs of Jimmie Rodgers, Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, the Sons of the Pioneers, etc. are tastefully rendered with good guitar work and fine harmonies.
The Minstrel Acoustic Music Series is sponsored by The Folk Project, New Jersey’s leading acoustic music and dance organization. It is a community of over 600 music lovers, musicians and dancers. Member volunteers have been showcasing acoustic and traditional music in North Jersey for over 30 years. Minstrel concerts take place at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship in a warm listening room sanctuary space. It is an alcohol and smoke free environment environment
